Hosting your website at dr. Jones

Normally it is recommended to use one of the mainstream providers of webspace, but in some situations they are the optimal choice.

Although not being my "core business" I do offer to host websites in some situations...

Projects related to "Free Software".
Projects related to "Free Speech".
Other projects I find interesting and want to support.
Private pages of family, friends and colleagues.

These sites are hosted free of charge.

Classic website

If you can live with the options offered by mainstream providers then pick one of those. I can help you understand what to look for.

If your site requires special configuration of the server then maybe you will be better off hosting here: I spend time optimizing servers for the needs of the jones.dk projects. If you fit in then you might save expensive consulting/customization fees at the mainstream providers.

These sites are charged similarly to standard packages at mainstream providers.

Database-driven website

Easy-to-use, article-centric publishing systems.
Web-based accounting system.
Web-based mail (like Hotmail but flexible and without the ads).
Web-based calendars.

These sites are typically part of a larger scale project in cooperation with graphics and web designers.

Special services

Custom Search engines.
Web access statistics.
Sending and receiving fax via mail.
Other stuff I forgot at the moment...
